Winter is coming!

Winter is coming! To be honest, I always dreamt of using this Game of Thrones reference if I ever started a blog! So, I am hell excited and a bit sad ’cause I couldn’t wear my “Winter is coming” T-shirt for this post. FYI I am having a blast hitting the ‘Place Order’ button online with some of my favorite stores, ’cause it’s my BIRTHDAY in a week! Well, where were we? Right. With winter come steamy mugs of hot chocolate, and cozy long mornings in bed.

While I am curled up in bed reading one of my recent favorite books of all time :”The book thief”, I am also multitasking and writing this Winter Outfit blog post. Why? Because I can. (PJ alert!) Winter outfits bring a myriad of challenges. How do you look stylish when you are all layered up and completely covered? Looking good when it’s freezing is a niche wardrobe art. Admit it, girls who go partying in tiny dresses and towering heels in kickass winters are the true heroes. But with dropping temps, you can finally break out the insanely stylish cold-weather ensemble too.With winter in full blast, your warmest jacket is bound to become your closest companion. But when it comes to building the perfect outfit, it has less to do with not having the right items, and more to do with styling them together into a whole spectrum of outfits. Well, anything that looks good through a filter and will get folks to double-tap on instagram right? That’s the dream! Because aren’t we all basically models off duty!

Soft as snow

This time I decided to go for a Gossip Girl inspired look! Go full-on cozy by wearing a fuzzy knit sweater with a skirt and tights. Bonus points if you have furry shoes to top off the look.Winter mantra – Mix bright colors to kick the winter blues. Go for twinning with the Blair to your Selena by wearing beanies or berets for a Parisian look! Winter hats to Hide Your Bad Hair Day. All in favour say “Aye!” So, Top it off.

Sugar and spice

If you want a li’l sugar in your lives, dress up like Bhavna or if you want to spice it up, dress up like me. Nothing says winter like a wool turtleneck. A turtleneck layered on top of a summer dress or a denim skirt can add an unexpected and classic twist that screams Marylin Monroe meets Annie Hall! You know, Power Suiting has been big on the runways with fashion houses these days. So black leather pants paired up with a black blazer is one of those runway styles you can actually pull off! Your inner fashion goddess will salute you. Although we didn’t plan on it, we ended up looking like Velma and Daphne from Scooby Doo. Childhood nostalgia alert. Sigh.

Style on-the-go doesn’t just happen. Winter layering is an art! So think timeless outerwear: a trench or a coat.Coats are fashion’s wrapping paper.Winter dress code entails bundling up with lots of layers. Dress up a bodycon dress with a trench coat and over the knee boots like me or throw on a faux fur or wrap coat over your outfit like Bhavna for easy warmth and instant glamour. This vintage, feminine look is flawless and timeless.

Go brave this winter by trading your feminine side for the chic biker girl. Leather jackets, chunky boots and neutral makeup should be your official winter look. Leather jackets are the mascot of Taylor Swift’s “We never go out of style” song! Look effortlessly put together in matching jacket and boots and pair a black top with a suede skirt like me or, up your chic factor by wearing your jacket with a crop top and black pants like Bhavna, because you can never go wrong in head to toe black. So what’s the basic Winter requirement? – one killer pair of black boots. Because there are all sorts of beautiful #OOTD worthy boots out there!

Do you find yourself wanting to wear shorts or a skirt during the colder months? No, you’re not totally crazy. One of the best things about winter? Comfort. I know! But why save all your short skirts and hot pants for summer only? You can wear a cute cozy sweater or a hoodie and add some spunk with some funky accessories to add depth and drama.If winter were a color, I think it’d be the most delicious shiny shade of candy red. Pull that color into your apparel or onto your lips. You can’t be anything but fabulous in this outfit!
